From humble beginnings
From an early age Stuart took a keen interest in mechanical things, working on the family farm and carrying out mechanical repairs and problem-solving. He rode motor bikes and drove cars and tractors on the farm long before he was old enough to drive on the road. He also had an enthusiasm for aviation and was determined to learn to fly, proving to be the beginnings of a life-long passion. Today he holds both private pilot and glider pilot licences.
Stuart’s formative years proved to be a very good grounding for the motor trade. Opening for business in 1980, Pepler Car Services had very humble beginnings operating from redundant agricultural buildings at Lanes Farm, on the edge of Goosey village.
MOTs and opportunities
After an accidental fire completely gutted the premises in 1986, the business gained planning consent to convert and refurbish a building on the same site. This gave much more space and improved facilities.
1990 saw the addition of an office and reception. As the business grew it soon became clear that being able to carry out MOT’S would be a huge advantage. In September 1993, Pepler Car Services applied to the Vehicle Inspectorate for a licence and this was duly approved. This meant undertaking considerable changes to the building and moving doors and vehicle lifts. The business issued its first MOT on the 25th February 1994.
A tyre changing bay was added at the same time.

In 2006 we had the opportunity to take over a redundant agricultural building adjoining ours. This was given a new roof, walls and floor with the latest generation of in-floor vehicle lifts being fitted. This now gives three more service lifts and a lift for carrying out wheel alignment.
With a program of continuing development we will soon commence works to provide a new Customer service and waiting area.
